Noise reduction

Cleans up the speckle of a high-ISO or underexposed photo.

Noise reduction amount smooths the bright-and-dark grit. Detail decides how much fine texture survives, and Contrast keeps edges from going soft. Color noise reduction amount clears the colored confetti that gathers in shadows, and Color detail and Color smoothness shape it the same way.

Nothing happens until an amount is up. Judge it zoomed in – at fit size noise reduction is nearly invisible and easy to overdo.

A little grit left behind usually looks better than plastic smoothness, and if you’re adding film grain anyway, it will cover the rest.
