Exposure settings
Start here: get the tone right before the film look goes on.
Exposure brightens or darkens the whole frame in stops, and Contrast pushes the tones apart or pulls them together. Shadows, Midtones and Highlights move one range at a time, while Blacks and Whites set how deep and how bright the ends go.
Saturation lifts every color equally; Vibrance favors the muted ones and goes easy on skin. Temperature and Tint warm or cool the photo and nudge it toward green or magenta. Clarity adds punch to larger shapes, Sharpness crisps fine edges.
With HDR on, the HDR slider sets how far the brightest parts rise above normal white – turn it down if the HDR feels too strong, up if it feels too weak. With HDR off, Highlight Detail uses the photo’s HDR information to bring back structure in bright skies and clouds.
All of these also work inside a mask, so you can apply any of them to just part of the picture.
